Paradigm Shift
This photo pretty much sums up my Southwest trips with the Jeep. I wish I was still there...
Fortymile Ridge Road - Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah.
This one too... there is a shift going on... I can sense it and feel it. At times like when this photo was made, the feeling consumes me. This is where I camped in Cathedral Valley just outside the park boundary of Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. The stars were out and storms were rolling through. Lightning from behind the clouds was illuminating them in the distance. What a time and place.
Sunrise at Carhenge
Sunrise at Carhenge was pretty sweet! After spending a few hours here in the morning I felt rested, recharged and ready to tackle another day of driving. Many thanks to my friend Tammy, if it weren't for her I never would have stopped here.

Carhenge Nights
After a VERY long day of driving, Carhenge in Alliance, Nebraska was a welcome stop. I spent several hours making photos here and witnessed an amazing sunrise. I didn't expect to enjoy this place as much as I did but for some reason I was fascinated by it. I experienced a very calm and peaceful night amongst the cars.
There was a rather large owl that was hunting in the area as I made my photographs. The night was so still and quiet that whenever he took off from his perch on top of the cars, I would hear him take flight and catch glimpses of him in the light cast from the nearby parking area. At about 2 AM I just couldn't stay awake any longer and crawled into the sleeping area of my Jeep to rest for a few hours.

Superior's Fury
A few more photos from last week's storm that I hadn't gotten around to posting yet. The photos I posted last week were taken from an elevated vantage point looking down at the waves. These were taken from a nearby beach, eye level with the lake. Not to worry, these were taken with a long telephoto lens and I was not risking getting hit by the waves to make these photos.

Lake Superior Surfers
Taken during last week's high winds and waves, these surfers were having fun along the shoreline of Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. The temperature was a balmy 27 degrees. I can only imagine what the wind chill was. I photographed them from the Split Rock Creek highway wayside. The waves were pretty epic that day!

Spring Sunset, Brighton Beach
Sunset from a week ago today as I was arriving in Duluth, MN. A calm start to what would become a very turbulent week dominated by extremely high winds and significant amounts of snowfall.

Rockin' and Rollin'
AWESOME waves on Lake Superior today! I was driving home from Duluth and stopped at Tettegouche State Park to spend a couple of hours watching and photographing the waves. The wind was intense but thankfully where I was shooting from was on the lee side of the point where it was somewhat calm. I took over 500 photos and two dozen videos but I could have easily spent a couple more hours watching this powerful display.
